WE AREN’T JUST PLANTING TREES WE’RE CHANGING LIVES
Industrial tree plantations (ITPs) play an essential role in providing a viable solution for meeting growing wood demand, providing sustainable livelihoods and benefits for communities, and protecting natural forests.
At Samling Timber Malaysia, we are committed to protecting the environment and implementing socio-economic practices that will contribute to the wellbeing of communities, the environment and the nation’s economic prosperity. As such, we invest heavily in fast-growing, high-yielding species in our plantations for large-scale commercial log production in Sarawak.
PLANTING TREES FOR OUR FUTURE
We are committed to advancing Sarawak’s economic future through a sustainable wood-based industry. For more than 20 years, we’ve been developing our own in-house expertise to manage ITPs in Sarawak that adheres to international best practices.
40,000 hectares of our industrial tree plantations (ITPs) are certified under the Malaysian Timber Certification Council’s (MTCC) Malaysian Timber Certification Scheme (MTCS) and endorsed by the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC).
We have planted well over 35 million trees – the majority of which comprise Acacia mangium, Acacia crassicarpa, Acacia hybrid, Eucalyptus pellita, Gmelina arborea and Falcataria moluccana. Our objective is to produce the volume and quality of logs that will satisfy the increasing level of demand from our downstream mills.
The trees harvested from our forest plantations are fully utilized at our various processing plants with close to zero waste.

We take pride in reassuring our customers that the wood products they purchase come from our forests that are sustainably managed forests in accordance with approved standards.
