At Samling Timber Malaysia, we believe that sustainable forestry is the key to a balanced ecosystem and a thriving community. Our approach is rooted in responsible forest management and a commitment to preserving the environment.
Our upstream timber operations focus on balancing economic development with ecological responsibility. By employing best practices in sustainable forestry, we ensure that our timber harvesting activities are harmonious with nature. Our goal is to maintain the health of forest ecosystems while meeting the industry’s needs.
Only mature trees are harvested in our Natural Forests, ensuring that younger trees continue to grow and support the forest ecosystem. This sustainable approach, called selective harvesting, allows the forest to regenerate naturally and protects diverse plant and animal species.
With our commitment in sustainable forestry management, we carefully limit the area harvested yearly to less than 3% of the forest, allowing continuous growth and regeneration.
Our Industrial Tree Plantations provide a sustainable solution to the world’s growing demand for timber. By cultivating fast-growing, high-yield tree species like Acacia and Eucalyptus, we can produce a reliable timber supply while reducing harvesting pressure on natural forests.
These plantations cover over 87,500 hectares and follow best practices to ensure minimal environmental impact and maximum efficiency.
Independent certifications, such as the Malaysian Timber Certification Scheme (MTCS) and the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC), verify our commitment to sustainable forestry.
These certifications ensure that our forests are managed responsibly and meet the highest environmental standards. By choosing Samling, our customers know they’re supporting verified sustainable practices.
