DATO SRI FONG JOO CHUNG​

Dato Sri obtained a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) degree in 1971. He was subsequently called to the English Bar by the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn and admitted as an Advocate in Sarawak in 1972. He practised law with Reddi & Company, Kuching, for over 20 years before being appointed State Attorney-General of Sarawak in 1992.

As State Attorney-General, Dato Sri served the Government of Sarawak until 2007 and continues to advise and represent the State in legal matters. He has extensive experience in public administration and corporate governance, serving on the boards of several state-linked corporations and educational institutions, including Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad, Sarawak Energy Berhad, Syarikat SESCO Berhad, Curtin (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, and St Joseph’s Private School, Kuching.

He is the author of three legal publications, including Constitutional Federalism in Malaysia (2008), Law on Native Customary Land in Sarawak (2011), and Sarawak Law Series: Land Code [with Annotations] (2015).
