Tan Ghee Kiat is a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and a member of the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

He was the founder and Managing Partner of Sekhar & Tan, Chartered Accountants from 1994 until his retirement in 2018.
